Usman Pegeuro

Usman started his violin studies in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, joining the Sistema Nacional de Orquestas Juveniles e Infantiles. As co-concertmaster and section principal of the National Youth Symphony Orchestra, Usman participated in the 2007 tours to Germany and New York. He was a prizewinner of the 2013 Florida International University Concerto Competition, and debuted as a soloist with the National Youth Orchestra of the Dominican Republic in the same year. Usman holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance from Florida International University, where he studied with Robert Davidovici. As a member of the 2014 YOA (Youth Orchestra of the Americas), Usman participated in the Caribbean Tour through Dominican Republic, Haiti and Jamaica. During this tour he taught in the Holy Trinity Music School Summer Camp in Cange, Haiti and instructed members of the National Youth Orchestra in Kingston, Jamaica. As a baroque enthusiast, he is currently studying with baroque violinist Cynthia Roberts and is a member of the UNT Baroque Orchestra under Paul Leenhouts. In collaboration with the UNT Baroque program, Usman took part in a special early music performance featuring selections from the Montpellier Codex presented in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Texas Medieval Association. As a member of the baroque ensemble "Fantasmi", most recently he toured in Perú and Puerto Rico, making a special appearance in the XIV International Early Music Festival in Lima, and teaching masterclasses in Lima and Cusco. Usman participated in the Festival Musical de Santo Domingo 2015, playing along artists such as Vadim Repin, Philippe Quint and Javier Perianes, and also participated in the Youth Orchestra of the Americas' Tour of Eastern Canada in the summer of 2015. After recently receiving a Master’s Degree in Violin Performance, Usman continues his studies under the tutelage of renowned pedagogue Julia Bushkova at the University of North Texas.
